Analysis Summary:
The authors used microarray analysis (CodeLink mouse 10K array) to examine gene expression in the meibomian gland of orchiectomized mice that had been treated with testosterone or vehicle for 2 weeks. Data analysis performed using GeneSifter demonstrates that testosterone regulates the expression of more than 1590 genes in the mouse meibomian gland. These analyses demonstrate that testosterone regulates the expression of numerous genes in the mouse meibomian gland and that many of these genes are involved in lipid metabolic pathways.
